Transforming Energy for America
Downstream
The last stage of the process, the downstream sector, involves the actual processing and distribution of natural gas and oil-based products. The downstream sector commonly includes the refining of petroleum crude oil and the processing and purifying of raw natural gas, as well as the marketing and distribution of products derived from crude oil and natural gas. The downstream sector reaches consumers through products such as gasoline or petrol, kerosene, jet fuel, diesel oil, heating oil, fuel oils, lubricants, waxes, asphalt, natural gas, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), as well as hundreds of petrochemicals.
Downstream is also commonly referred to include those industries that use the products and by-products of the oil and gas fracking as one of their main input raw materials. Typically, this covers the entire Petro-Chemical industries. Virginia Transformer is a favored equipment supplier for reliable powering of the process plants, actively serving many industries in this mission.
